Monaco Kart Cup 2009

Young Lincolnshire karting star Jack Harvey picked up the biggest crown of his 2008 season at the weekend when he attended the CIK-FIA awards in Monaco. Jack received his trophy for the 2008 Asia-Pacific KF2 Championship.
It was the second time in two years that the 15-year-old from Bassingham had been at the prestigious awards, the biggest on the karting calendar, after claiming the KF3 European title last year.
He was understandably proud to once again be there to collect one of the CIK-FIA titles.
Jack said: “I was incredibly happy to be back in Monaco again to receive another major title.
“The season has been quite hard and there have been a few meetings where things haven’t gone my way but to have my name on another trophy means that when everything has gone right I have been one of the top guys in the world and it’s what I’ve aimed for all season.
“Monaco is an amazing place and it definitely adds to the glamour picking up a trophy there.”
It has been a hectic few days for Alpinestars backed Harvey, after visiting Monza in Italy the previous weekend to receive his runner-up trophy for the Winning Series of Karting Championship, before his whistle-stop trip to Monte-Carlo.
Despite the glamour of the awards in the off-season, Jack has little time to rest, with a couple of tests in the new Birel KF1 chassis before Christmas. He then takes centre stage at the Autosport-International Karting Show in early January.
He said: “It’s been just as busy this last week as it has at any point during the season, but I’ve really enjoyed it and I’m definitely aiming to be back in Monaco again this time next year to make it a hat-trick.”
