In only his 3rd year of kart racing, Super 1 front-runner, Robert Foster-Jones has made it through to the winner-takes-all European championship finals at Salbris, France (5 August). He said, “I’m very happy to be going (to Salbris) but with the speed I had, I should’ve been higher. Hopefully at Salbris, things will be a little calmer.” With barely any time to recover, Robert and his RFM team head to Val Vibrata, Italy for the final round of the Italian Open Masters championship.

Are the pieces slotting into place at the crucial time for ICA star, Robert Foster-Jones - after finishing second twice, and stealing a march on his title rivals? Competing in the 7 rounds of the British Super 1 kart championship at Shenington, the RFM driver took pole after posting the fastest lap in qualifying, before converting his front-row advantage into a superbly taken win in the first heat. In the 2 race, he was narrowly beaten for the win by Elliot Burton. Despite honours being even after the heats, Foster-Jones’s Alonso kart sat on pole position for the third time this season – thanks to his superior qualifying performance.

Last Sunday (8 July) and not a million miles away from the champagne, prawn sandwiches and celebrities at Silverstone, Richard Bradley took an unexpected but no less deserved first place in a dramatic round of the British Super 1 kart championships, in the down-to-earth surroundings of Shenington kart track. “It’s my first Formula A win and to come at this level, it’s quite emotional for me. It feels very good. I wasn’t really expecting it but a win’s a win”. “This is my first year of Formula A, I’m only 15 and I’m racing against some people who have done it for 11 years, so I’m very happy with this win and sure that there are a lot more victories to come.”
